I heard on the grape vine of a member who got bitten by a snake recently but didn’t know it until a few days later. Gee some people just don’t know when to slow down.
Better be safe than sorry next time. And stay away from those wriggly varmints…….

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Just a quick note to say a big Thank you and Congratulations to the committee of the GQHPA for their 2 recent events.  The Beginner Show on August 31 was very well run with an amazing array of prizes in each event.
The Training Day on Sept 28 was a fantastic idea.  It was a great opportunity to get any new horses used to being ridden with other horses in the indoor arena.  For the more experienced horses it was the chance to polish up on a few things ...... not always possible within the time constraints of a real show.  To the horses it was the same as attending a show.... they didn't know there were no ribbons involved, but it gave us all a chance to get them used to that same sort of atmosphere at our own pace.  Having the trail & jumping equipment set up was really great too.  Everyone had plenty of opportunity to do all the trail elements and jumps without feeling hurried at all.
Aside from all this, what I really enjoyed about the Training Day was the social side.  We had plenty of time to chat to each other and also to help each other.  There was even quite a bit of "horse-swapping" going on, proving us horse-loving 'oldies' are still just big kids at heart !!
So Thank You so much to everyone for putting on a great day.  My horse Rocky has requested that we have another one ASAP.
