EDITOR’S MESSAGEWell I‘m back for another year as your newsletter Editor. Thanks for everyone’s support over 2008 & to the people who sent me nice reviews of their year to date. Keep them coming in!
It would be nice to hear some more feedback for the committee members and how you appreciated them taking on their role over 2008.
Members have decided whether they would like their monthly newsletter sent by post or retrieve it from the clubs website. Either way the newsletter will be available the first week of every month.
The AGM went ahead on 6th September and a new committee was elected. However, we still need a Treasurer and Show Secretary. So if any member would like to take on these positions please call your new President Paul Lorimer. We are seriously looking at paying someone to take on the Show secretary position. Please put your hand up to support your club. If we don’t have a show secretary then we can’t hold any shows.
Also on the night, Graham Voss was handed a framed certificate and awarded a Lifetime membership to the Gatton club. Well Done Graham you so deserve it. Thanks for taking on the show manager position again.
Thank you to Donna Lucas our new secretary. We know you will do a great job in keeping the club running.
Thank you Gail Lowden for all your efforts covering for Secretary, Treasurer and Show Secretary for the show season. Also for Robert's help and organisation too. Gail has been the saving grace of our club for the past year and we members appreciate her effort and dedication. Also Thank you to the past committee members Andrea, Kim, John, Paul, Kerry, Mareesa, Joy & Marilyn.
Welcome to our club members for 2009. Being a member of Gatton club you will benefit by being eligible to receive high point club award at the end of the year, Free classifieds in newsletter and website.
To save confusion all MEMBERS PLEASE TAKE NOTE of pricing for Classifieds and Business ads. For members and non members. These can be viewed on Classifieds page. Until next time, keep safe.

What a great day it was. A lot of people made a huge effort to make it a success. Thank you to all the competitors for coming along and supporting the Gatton Club. Hope to see you all again in the near future. HUGE Thanks to Steve and Joy Conn for their hard work all day on the canteen. Heard Steve say he
enjoyed it so much he was off home to put on the barbie and cook a few sausages for dinner.
Also big thanks to Murray Tamblyn, Rhianna and Leesa for their tireless efforts at the gate, distributing trophies and rounding up competitors. Thank you to Robert for helping out where he could.
And of course we can't forget Kerry on the PA, what a great job, all the sponsors got plenty of plugs.
Big thank you to Meredith Rehn who gave up her day, free of charge to the club, and did such a great job of judging. Huge numbers in some classes really had Meredith working hard to pick her place getters. From the comments we received from many competitors Meredith would make an excellent accredited judge.
Also thanks to Zoe Hoopert, Ring Steward, its a big job all day out in the arena, but Zoë handled it very professionally. Thanks to Andrea for all her help with the food.
Last of all a HUGE Thank you to Gail Lowden for organizing the Beginner show, a job well done from all of us in the Gatton club.

NEWS FROM THE PAINT HORSE NATIONALS
After topping off a great show at the QUEENSLAND STATE PAINT HORSE CHAMPIONSHIPS held at Caboolture in late July, where SUPERIOR ALLROUND CHAMPION "GARTH BROOKS" earned the HI POINT SENIOR HORSE OF THE SHOW and "PRETTY SENSATIONAL"owned by Joy and Steven Conn won HI POINT JUNIOR HORSE. (both trained by Meredith Rehn, of REHN PERFORMANCE HORSES) They headed off to Dubbo for the
PAINT HORSE NATIONALS, in early August.
For GARTH the winning didn’t stop, as he went on to win seven NATIONAL TITLES and four RESERVE NATIONAL TITLES. As quoted by some highly regarded competitors "he would be one of the only a few stallions in this country, that could be called a true allround horse" Competing in his new pet event, Dressage, he earned TWO NATIONAL TITLES, with the Judge stopping Meredith and making herself known, commenting on what a truely delightful, correct test it was. Garth went on to win in OPEN HUNTER HACK, OPEN BARREL RACE, where he ran a stunner, the next day he won the SENIOR HORSE TRAIL and the SENIOR HORSE WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP then the OPEN WORKING COWHORSE.
His RESERVE TITLES were won in HACKING, WESTERN RIDING, CUTTING and TEAM PENNING.
GARTH won the Gist Buckle for HI POINT WESTERN HORSE OF THE SHOW & another Buckle for HI POINT ENGLISH HORSE OF THE SHOW. The way he settles so quickly into his next event be it jumping, pleasure, barrels or cutting made many people shake their head with disbelief.
GARTH & MEREDITH certainly had a great show.
PRETTY SENSATIONAL a chestnut Overo filly bred by ROBYN MILLS did herself proud as well. "LACEY" was named RESERVE CHAMPION 2YR OLD TRAIL. For any one who saw her first few trails at our show's would realise she has come a long, long way.
LACEY placed 3rd in the OPEN ENGLISH PLEASURE and did an excellent job in the large classes of 2yr.old H.U.S, WESTERN PLEASURE, and JUNIOR WESTERN HORSEMANSHIP placing fifth in all three. Honestly this filly travelled so well and did everything she was asked of.
Well Done to Melissa Benson, Rebecca and Lisa Gant who competed in USA.
We appreciate your thanks for clubs sponsorship to help you out.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Howdy ya’ll!
Back in the land of OZ! And life is starting to settle back into a routine. We had a fantastic trip, jam packed full of fun and exciting activities. Such as visiting Halter and Performance Studs, riding Tennessee Walking Horses. We also went to Theme parks like Disneyland and Six Flags. It really did take a lot out of us.
But what a fantastic trip!
On the competition side of the journey we are very proud to say that Team Australia achieved a 4th place overall in the Youth World Games, which was fantastic. The youth games consist of a series of events such as, Hipology ( a knowledge test), Teams Relay, Teams Parade and the showing and riding of the horses. The Team achieved Top Ten placings in all categories.
Lisa rode in the Trail and unfortunately had a bit of a naughty horse, but much to her credit did a fantastic job at doing her best to keep riding through finishing up with a 7th place. I competed in the Horsemanship. My horse gave me really a good ride and I truly feel I couldn’t have asked for a better run, I was presented 3rd place.
Overall the team did a fantastic job and had a great time. Competing in the Paint World Games has been a real honour for the both of us. We have admiration for the horses, and understand the standard of competition is raised due to numbers.
Successful riding and showing is due to dedication, determination and a burning desire.
This is something we all possess at different levels.
We are glad to be back home, the cold weather is a bit of a shock coming from 32 degree heat in Texas. Thank you so much for your wonderful support and very kind donation. Lisa and I are well aware without your kind donation these memories we now have would have only been dreams.
Kind Regards, Rebecca and Lisa Gant
